Angelina Jolie & Brad Pitt Married Months Before Wedding In France

Angelina jolie just revealed in a new interview that she and her famous hubby were already married long before their secret wedding in France on Aug. 23, 2014.
We all rejoiced when Brad Pitt, 51, and Angelina Jolie, 39, tied the knot in a top secret ceremony in France on Aug. 23. But what we didn’t know was that the couple actually made things official in California months before the big day. Compared to their lavish nuptials at Chateau Miraval in Correns, France, Brad and Angie’s first wedding was a decidedly casual affair.
“Before the wedding in France with the kids, Brad and I were already married in California,” Angelina reveals to Italian magazine Io Donna. “As Americans, we couldn’t marry legally in France.”
“One day I said to Brad, ‘Let’s meet up at 4:30 pm?'” Angelina tells the mag. “I called a justice of the peace and we signed the documents.” A California judge granted the couple their marriage license and conducted their nondenominational civil ceremony, Us Weekly previously reported.

Musician turned columnist Etcetera writes open letter to Pastor Chris Oyakhilome

Controversoal ex-musician Etcetera, writes an open letter to Christ Embassy head pastor Chris Oyakhilome.
Read below:

Greetings in the name of the lord. I hope this letter finds you in the best of spirit and health. I write to you, in the same form that Paul wrote to the Ephesians expressing his advice and counsel to the followers of Jesus Christ. If I had 1,000 tongues, I could not thank God enough for your role in winning souls for the kingdom. I bless God for revealing through you the divine plans of Jesus Christ for us. Through you, a lot of people have experienced Jesus in person.
I write to you as a Christian who is saddened by the series of troubling news emanating from your church, Christ Embassy. I am worried that the seeds you have planted in us through your teachings may no longer germinate as a result of the numerous scandals coming out of the church. The roots of your messages, spiritual guidance and leadership that once brought deeper understanding of the workings of God needs a little more reassuring with the church toeing this ungodly path of collecting a thousand naira gate-fee from believers coming to hear you teach God’s word every New Year’s Eve. Your church has opened a new chapter in what we all know today in Nigeria as church business. Over the years, this must have turned out to be a very profitable innovation. I have to admit that the economic implications of this ingenuity are mouth-watering. If some of the Christian outreaches on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway adopt this modus-operandi, they can make hundreds of millions of naira in just one night of devotion to God. This is surely the smartest innovation so far in the history of church business in Nigeria. Are we allowed to peddle the Word of God for profit? No pastor. We are not. The scriptures forbid charging for ministry (worship, preaching and teaching of God’s Word, evangelism, fellowship of the church, psalms/hymns or spiritual songs, discipleship) in any circumstance or situation. It is stated clearly in black and white.

Matthew 10:8-9, “Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, cast out demons. You received without paying; give without pay. Acquire no gold nor silver nor copper for your belts.”

2 Corinthians 2:15-17, “For we are the aroma of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing. To one, a fragrance from death to death, to the other a fragrance from life to life. Who is sufficient for these things? For we are not, like so many, peddlers of God’s word, but as men of sincerity, as commissioned by God, in the sight of God, we speak in Christ.”

It is true that God’s people through faithful giving are to supply the financial support for the ministry. But issuing a mandate for people to pay to have access to God’s word is ungodly. A genuine ministry for the Lord cannot have an advanced price tag to pay before the ministry is given. Why? Because then it is no longer ministry, but commerce, employ, trade or entertainment. You are in the ministry of rendering services to God; and with Christ as example, you are to give all that you are for all that He is. It is even wrong to charge honorariums and tickets to religious concerts. The Lord deeply warned us through his Word that there is no justification for every charging for the work of the gospel. Think of what you are doing: charging people to pay a ticket to come to a church or civic venue to hear that which is eternal, is wrong. After all you take offerings from the same congregation.
Matthew 21:12 “Jesus entered into the temple of God, and drove out all of those who sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the money changers’ tables and the seats of those who sold the doves. 21:13 He said to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer,’ but you have made it a den of robbers!”

The greatest proof-text your followers will misuse out of the Bible to try to “justify” charging for the ministry of the Lord is this familiar phrase: “the workman is worthy of his hire.” Yes, I fully agree with that phrase for it is God’s Word; but they are wrongly applied when trying to condone treating ministry like a business, trade, or entertainment. It doesn’t mean we have the right to charge for “hire.” More appropriately, it means those “who proclaim the gospel should receive their living by the gospel” (1 Cor. 9:14b) and do so in a manner commensurate with the gospel. Aren’t you glad that the Lord didn’t charge you to hear about the good news of the gospel unto salvation? Aren’t you glad that the Holy Spirit doesn’t charge any of us for the spiritual gifts He gives to the church? Money, beloved, should not be a prerequisite for ministry.

My Christian brothers and sisters, let us continue to pray for our pastors, gospel artists, authors, speakers, and evangelical leaders who are still trapped by the allure of a market-driven ministry; parroting worldly techniques rather than emulating the humility and servant-hood of Christ. This principle should even affect Christian retail bookstore outlets and how they “sell” their items; but that debate is for another time. Amen.

surfer punches shark in the face to stop attack In New Zealand

A British surfer Darren Mills was forced to turn to boxing when he was attacked by a shark in New Zealand. He escaped death when he ‘punched and pushed’ the shark after it sunk its teeth into him.

‘I tried to punch it but it was more like a push,’ added the 28-year-old, who suffered a serious bite wound to his right leg after Friday’s attack.‘I was pretty scared it was going to come back,’ he said from his hospital bed in the southern city of Invercargill yesterday.

He managed to stay on his board and ride a wave back to land.A holidaying doctor and nurse on the shore gave him first aid until a rescue helicopter arrived to fly him to hospital.Fellow surfer Nick Smart, who witnessed the incident, said: ‘He was sitting on his surfboard and the shark came up from nowhere and hit him.‘You could see blood and he was definitely in pain.’Mr Mills’ surfboard is pockmarked with a semicircle of tooth marks from what experts, given the bite’s size, believe was a 9ft great white shark.‘When the attack first happened I was, like, “I’m not even getting in the bath tub again,”’ he said.‘But I just want to get back and surf again. I just feel really, really lucky. Really lucky,’ he added.

Tragic Escalator accident

The Quebec coroner's office is conducting an autopsy on Naima Rharouity, a 47-year-old mother of two who was killed after a piece of clothing she was wearing became caught in an escalator at a Montreal train station.
Rharouity was at Fabre metro Thursday morning when the accident happened. It appears that she was traveling down an escalator when she fell. An item of clothing became stuck in the mechanism and tightened around her neck, strangling her. Rharouity was the mother of two young boys aged eight and five. Her family called the death a 'horrific accident.'According to CTV, her husband had just left for Morocco to make arrangements after his mother died. The coroner's office is seeking to determine what led to Rharouity's death. She was wearing a hijab at the time of her death, but it is unclear which item of her clothing became stuck. Witnesses told police they saw the unnamed victim struggling to free her scarf after it got lodged in the teeth of an escalator on her way down to the subway platform.‘While she was trying to pull up her scarf from the escalator, her hair got caught too and from there, everything got tied up at the end of the escalators,’ said Constable Jean-Pierre Brabant, of the Montreal police.
By the time firefighters and EMS workers arrived on the scene, Rharouity went into cardiac arrest and was pronounced dead at the scene.
This is not the first time that an escalator caused bodily harm and even death. In 1989, a 2-year-old girl lost four fingers when her hand got caught in the teeth of an escalator as she was trying to pick up a bag of raisins at another Montreal subway stop.In 2004, 16 students riding an escalator in a Montreal high school were injured when the moving stairs abruptly stopped.Last year, a man in Seattle was strangled to death when his shirt got caught in an escalator at a transit station.Global News reported that in August 2013, a 10-year-old girl’s foot was maimed after being caught in an escalator at a Macy’s department store in in Paramus, New Jersey.

Miracle man who spent 14 months adrift in the Pacific

Meet 'Miracle Man of the Pacific' Jose Salvador Albaniaga- the fisherman who survived on turtle blood, raw fish and seagull flesh for more than a year as he drifted helplessly across the world's largest ocean.
Jose had drifted in his 24ft boat for 14 months across 8,000 miles of treacherous seas, finally dragging himself ashore, his skin scorched by the unforgiving sun, his shorts in tatters decayed by the sea salt
Jose and his teenage fellow shark fisherman endured the most soul-destroying of conditions after their boat was left at the sole mercy of the currents when their engine broke down on December 21, 2012.Despite their attempts to attract other vessels, they continued to drift further out to sea. He watched his teenage fishing companion, aged between 15 and 18, slowly die under the relentless sun.Jose continued his own struggle for survival that was to endure for week after week, month after tortuous month, as he was forced to drink his own urine and pick ravenously at the raw flesh of seagulls.
'I survived because I prayed. I prayed all the time.'And while he believed that his faith had helped carry him through the 14 months he was adrift, it was also his determination to stay alive - grabbing turtles to drink their blood when there was no rain water, swallowing down his own urine, snatching seagulls to eat their flesh and hooking fish and eating them raw - that ensured his tenuous hold on life.'I thank God that I am here,' after his 24ft boat had drifted helplessly across 8,000 miles of treacherous seas, remarkably staying upright in storms, sitting idly in calm conditions, as the sole survivor thought about his family on a far-away continent.
A team of doctors were on hand to help Jose leave the naval vessel and transport him to a hospital. His blood pressure is a little low, but otherwise seemed to be in exceptional health considering what he'd endured'I'm alive, it is so good,' he said from his hospital bed after being brought to the Marshall Islands capital, Majuro.'I thank God and I thank the birds I caught to eat. I caught fish and at times I drank my own urine to have liquid.'Of his ill-fated companion, all he would say is 'I'm sad for him'.Jose said he desperately wanted to phone his family - his wife and his 10-year-old daughter - in El Salvador but he cannot remember the name of the village or a phone number. 'I have forgotten many things,' he told said. He has even forgotten exactly how old he is. He 'believes' he is about 36 to 38, even though his ordeal has made him appear much older.'He is here, with us, but he isn't here with us,' an interpreter who has spoken to Jose told MailOnline. 'He is still disorientated, there is no doubt about that.'Jose said: 'It has been a long time, but I feel safe now. I know, too that I will get back home.'When he arrived at the port in Majuro on board the naval ship that brought him from the atoll where he was found, he told MailOnline:
Miraculous survival: Jose Ivan, claims to have set off from Mexico for El Salvador in December 2012 but ended up traveling more than 8,000 miles to the Ebon Atoll.
Doctors said, however, that his body was bloated from the conditions he had suffered. His blood pressure was low and he walked cautiously, but it was more his mental condition than his physical appearance that medics on the main island suggested would be his greatest challenge in coming days.He is expected to suffer the ongoing effects of prolonged exposure, fear of death, starvation and lack of water. Watching his teenage companion die would have added to his ordeal - and that was before the real terror began as he drifted for more than a year across the ocean.
Authorities in El Salvador, where his family live, make arrangements for him to be flown home to his wife and daughter. It is not known that when he described his daughter as aged 10 whether he was referring to her when he had set off on his ill-fated fishing expediton.'I thought about them all the time,'. 'I think that by now they think that I am dead. So I want to go home and show them that I am alive. I thank God that I am here.'As evidence of his gratitude, when he was asked by interpreter Magui Vaca if he had prayed all the time, he put his hands together in an attitude of prayer. 'Always,' he replied.
Doctors said the fact that he was still alive after such a long period at sea, snatching what liquid and solid foods he could, was testament to his original good physical condition.A human can live for about three weeks without food but only three to five days without liquids.Turtle blood is rich in iron and proteins, providing the same sort of nutrition found in steak and eggs, but it is still a poor substitute for rainwater. He might also have consumed the turtles' eyes, for they are filled with fluid.Jose's constitution undoubtedly also ensured his survival.

Story still developing..more to come.

UPDATE: ASUU not budging to sack threats by government

Although the government has given an ultimatum to all striking lecturers and issued a sack threat if the deadline is not met, the lecturers have all remained unshaken. They say that until the government does what its supposed to do,they'll stand their ground.
"We shall bow only to what we as academics are convinced will serve the interest of Nigeria and its people, no matter their ethnic, religious or class origins. This is where we stand we shall never be cowed.

Justifying government's plans to sack lecturers, the Public Relations Officer, National Universities Commission, Mallam Ibrahim Yakassai said: "Federal Government has every right to sack ASUU if the union is being unreasonable, just the same way your employer has the right to sack you.
"Government would be justified in sacking lecturers if they do not return to the classrooms, lecturers are not the only ones in the employ of the Federal Government to be causing this kind of headache."

For the ASUU Ibadan Zonal Chairman, Dr Adesola Nasir, government's order for schools to reopen is not the same thing as the academic staff resuming work because the schools were shut down by the management.

"The threat is so primitive in this day and time, especially coming from someone who is from the academic. Rather than worrying how to fill in the over 23,000 short in teaching staff and move the sector forward, government is threatening to sack us.
"We are not bothered by the threat because we are not asking for money for our pockets but for the development of the varsity system. Government keeps complaining that our graduates are not employable yet they don't want to put things in place to make them employable."

Chinese authorities build 'baby box' where parents can dump their unwanted babies

Wow! This report is from mail online.
The Chinese authorities have built a box like building where parents can anonymously leave their unwanted children. The building, located in Nanjing, eastern China, will provide a safe place for parents to leave their children - who will then be cared for at a nearby welfare home, according to reports. The space - coined a 'baby box' by local media - will be electronically monitored so that when a baby is left an alarm will go off.Staff of the nearby Nanjing Welfare Home - located five minutes away - will then come to collect the child. The building is air-conditioned and has humidity monitors. It includes an incubator, a bed and a thermometer.
There will be no CCTV - so the parents will be totally anonymous, a report on Shanghaiist has claimed.Staff at the Nanjing Welfare Home hope the building will stop parents from leaving their children in parks or on the streets - where they often freeze to death.
Many feel forced to leave their children due to the government's population control one child policy - introduced in 1979.The news come as the city of Shenzhen has reportedly applied to the Guangdong provincial authorities to pilot such a facility next year.Critics of the scheme have said it will encourage irresponsible parents to abandon their offspring.Zhu Hong, the centre's spokesman said: 'We do this for the sake of the babies lives.'The parents might have to abandon them for unthinkable reasons. But the children are innocent and need to be protected.'So far this year the home has received 160 babies. In August, a horrific image of a newborn baby drowned in a river caused outrage in China after it emerged on local social networking sites. The picture - taken from a river bank in south east China - apparently shows a dead infant wearing a romper suit and a nappy several days after the newborn had been abandoned in the water. The photo has appalled Chinese internet users who have set up an online search for clues to the baby's identity.
China has a one-baby policy, introduced in 1979 to keep the country's population under control, which restricts urban couples to having just one child.Despite egalitarian policies in China, many families hope to have a son to provide for them in their old age.As a result the country has a higher rate of female infanticide and lower ration of female to male births.

The Uk,has some really bad roads oh!. Maybe not as much as the one here in Nigeria but its bad all the same. Rothbury Avenue is one of the worst roads in Britain. Rothbury Avenue, South Tyneside, has just 16 houses but about 80 potholes. Residents are really frustrated but their council say they don't have any money to fix it.

Miracle babies

Three years old Kaydence Theriault  and her fellow triplets Taylor and Kaylin were all born with Crouzon Syndrome, which causes a baby's head to become misshapen.Kaydence had the most severe form doctors had ever seen because her skull was shaped like a cloverleaf. The toddler has had to undergone pioneering surgery to prevent her brain from being squashed.
Most children born with the condition have surgery before they are 18 months old to separate the skull before it fuses but Kaydence's condition was so severe the bones were already joining together, pushing her head into an odd shape at the top and sides, like a three-leaved clover.
Mrs Theriault and her eldest son Jayden, eight, also have Crouzon Syndrome, which Mrs Theriault inherited from her father. But each of them has a milder form and underwent small operations just before they were one. Kaydence on the other hand, needed emergency surgery to open up her skull at two months old, as soon as she was strong enough, so her brain would have room to grow.Three months later, a team of expert surgeons came together at Peyton Manning Children's Hospital in Indianapolis to perform a delicate operation to reshape her head. World famous cranio-facial surgery Dr Kenneth Salyer, from Texas, was brought in to help with the surgery, which took place in May 2010 and lasted eight-and-a half hours. Neurosurgeon Dr Ronald Young said: 'The only way to reshape the head is to take that bone apart and put it back together in a different shape and that's what we did.'
The other two of the triplets Taylor and Kaylin, who had a milder form of Crouzon, underwent their surgeries at seven months old and are also doing well.
'We're so happy they can all have a normal life," said the parents. We love those doctors for what they have done for our family.
